Q: What is Clifton Park Valor?
A: Clifton Park Valor was organized in 2019 as a Pop Warner football team in Clifton Park, New York.
Q: What league does Clifton Park Valor play in?
A: Clifton Park Valor is a member of the Capital District Pop Warner League, which is a member of the National Pop Warner League.
Q: What are the age and weight limits of Clifton Park Valor players?
A: In the 2022 season, Clifton Park Valor will field two-three teams in the Tackle division and one-two teams in the Flag division. Boys and girls ages 5-12 can play in this league. A child’s age on July 31st is his/her age for the season.
Tackle team: Ages 7,8
Tackle team: Ages 8,9,10
Tackle team: Ages 10,11,12
Flag team: Ages 5,6,7
Q: What other Capital District communities participate in Pop Warner football?
A: In 2018, these other communities fielded teams:
American Division: Bethlehem, Cohoes, Guilderland, Rensselaer, Saratoga, South Glens Falls, South Troy, and Troy.
National Division: Albany, Averill Park, Green County, Northern Colombia County, Ravena, and Schenectady.
Q: Are there cheerleaders?
A: Yes, CP Cheer was created in 2020. This is the 3rd season for Cheer! Tracee Canterino is the CP Cheer coordinator.

Q: When does the season begin and what is the practice format?
A: Practice begins on August 1, 2022. From August 2, 2019, until the school year starts, a team can practice a maximum of 10 hours per week, any combination of days and hours per week. The Clifton Park Valor will practice 4 days per week at 2.5 hours per day during this time.
Once school starts, practice is limited to 3 times per week. There are no maximum hour limitations. Although, as we proceed into the Fall, practice will be limited by daylight.
Q: What is the Clifton Park Valor game schedule?
A: Game schedules have not been circulated yet. However, Clifton Park Valor should have 8 regular season games, 4 at home and 4 away. Games most likely will be scheduled on Saturdays at 5 p.m or 7:00 p.m or Sunday at noon or 3:00 p.m. More TBD.
Q: Where will Clifton Park Valor practice and play?
A: After several very productive meetings with Shenendehowa administrative and athletic departments heads Valor has been assured that grass fields will be made available for all Valor practices and the Shenendehowa Varsity turf field will be available for use for all home games.
Q: Does Clifton Park Valor have the support of Shen and its Athletic department?
A: Yes. After several meetings and intense Q&A regarding the goals of Clifton Park Valor we are happy to report that Clifton Park Valor will have the same support and recognition as the other youth football league in town.
Q: Are there playoffs?
A: Yes. The top-performing teams as determined by won/loss record in the Capital District Pop Warner League will advance to CDPW League playoffs. The Capital District Pop Warner League champion may then have an option to proceed to regional and then national playoffs which culminate in a super-bowl type atmosphere at the Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida in late November or early December. As a first-year team, it has not been determined yet if we will be allowed into this playoff format. Information will be provided on this site as we are provided with the same.
Q: How do I register my child, what is the size of the team roster, etc.?
A: Registration begin this year on Monday, March 28,2022 Registration is prominently be displayed on this website. At this point, Clifton Park Valor has decided to have a 16-18 person roster per team.
Q: What is the cost to play on Clifton Park Valor and what equipment does the team provide?
A: The registration fee for tackle is $295. Flag is $195.
Team issued equipment: game jersey, practice jersey, shoulder pads, helmet.
Player responsibility:
- Game pants and corresponding knee and thigh pads. The color of pants will be determined at a later date. A color will be chosen so a player can wear the same pants for practice and games. Cleats, socks, mouthpiece, and any additional pads your child may choose to wear such as wrist pads or arm pads, etc.
- Any and all team-issued equipment must be returned to the team at the end of the season. A parent will be billed for any equipment not returned at 120% of the equipment’s actual cost to account for cost increases, mailing/handling, etc.
Q: How is Clifton Park Valor funded? A: The official name of our corporate organization is: Clifton Park Pop Warner & Cheer, Inc. We are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation which means donations are tax deductible. We do not receive any public funds and this being our first year of existence we are faced with significant expenses for such items as football equipment, football uniforms, field rentals, etc. Our organization is entirely funded with donations.
